Flexible and affordable infrastructure solutions
ubitricity is developing new solutions for a comprehensive and affordable charging infrastructure for electric vehicles (EVs) with industry-leading partners. We believe that only an affordable and ubiquitous network of charging points will satisfy the diverse requirements of drivers, infrastructure providers and electrical network operators. A dense network of charging points is also key to harness the potential of electric vehicles as smart energy users for the smooth integration of renewable energies into future electricity networks.

As simple as using a mobile phone
ubitricity’s Mobile Metering concept simplifies infrastructure by moving metering and communications interfaces inside vehicles themselves, or into a cable or module. Similar to the way a mobile phone allows communications on the go without heavy earthbound infrastructure, users carry the intelligence with them. The technological components of the charging point are reduced considerably – ultimately a charging point must only be a special system socket. This will make it affordable and easy to install charging points for e-vehicles.
Affordable charging points = scalable infrastructure
Mobile metering and communications technology brings down prices in two important ways:
- Each charging point (a specially developed ubitricity system socket) costs nearly the same as a normal electrical socket (ca. €50).
- Since there’s only one measuring device per driver – a car-mounted meter or a cable module – an unlimited number of charging points per driver can be installed, without any increased metering costs.
Drivers can install system sockets wherever they typically park their cars for extended periods, with a minimum of hardware and no running costs. And as the number of sockets installed increases, overall system costs are further reduced compared to stationary infrastructure. ubitricity is ubiquitous electricity, making it easy to meet the demands of the future.
